ARTICLES OF FAITH

We stand in agreement with the Articles of Faith of the Seventh Day Baptist General Conference while retaining the following articles of faith of this particular assembly.

We believe in:

1. The Inspiration of the Scriptures

The Bible is inspired by God and the sole rule of our faith and practice.

    (2 Timothy 3:16,17; 2 Peter 1: 19-21)

2. The Triune God (Trinity): Father, Son, Holy Spirit

There is only one God revealed in three beings. The bible says there is only One God

and calls the Father God, and the Son God and the Holy Spirit God. Thus we use the

    word Trinity. (Isaiah 43:10, 11; 44:6; John 1:1; 20:28; 2 Corinthians 3:17; Hebrews

    3:7-11 quotes Psalms 95:7)

3. The Virgin Birth of Jesus

Mary conceived and gave birth to Jesus by the Holy Spirit and the power of God.

    (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23,25; Luke 1:30-35)

4. The Vicarious Atonement

Jesus died upon the cross as a sacrifice for our sins.

    (John 3:16,17; Romans 5:8,9; 1 Peter 3:18)

5. The Bodily Resurrection of Jesus Christ

Jesus predicted his bodily resurrection and it came to pass three days after His death.

    (John 2:19-22; 20:24-29; Luke 24:1-7, 36-43)

6. The Visible Return of Jesus Christ

As the Ascension of Jesus after the resurrection was visible, so will the return of Jesus

at an unknown time to man.  (John 14:1-3; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Thessalonians 4:14-16)

7. The Resurrection and Rapture of the Saints Upon the Lord's return

There will be a distinct time in the future at the return of Jesus Christ when there will

be a resurrection of the body. At that time those who are alive will be changed and

caught up together with them to meet the Lord and forever to be with Him.

    (Daniel 12:2; John 5:28,29; 1 Thessalonians 4:15-18; 1 Corinthians 15:20-24, 50-55)

8. The Judgment

While there are differences among Christians as to types of judgments, the Bible is

clear as to there being a judgment of God.

    (John 5:24; Hebrews 9:27; 2 Corinthians 5:10; Revelation 20:11-15)

9. A Conscious Existence after Death  (Heaven or Hell/hades)

There is a part of man that supersedes the death of the physical body and has a

conscious existence after death of the body. Some may refer to this as soul while

others may use the word spirit.

    (Luke 16:19-31; 2 Corinthians 5:6-9; 12:2-4; Philippians 1:19-23)

10. Salvation by Grace through Faith with a Changed Life following

Man is separated from God by sin and cannot do any works to bridge that gap. That

was the purpose of the sacrifice of Jesus upon the cross. This is the gift of God that

we reach out and receive by faith alone. This new life in Christ is to portrayed by

works. Works are a product and not a cause

    (Romans 2:23; 6:23; 10:9; Ephesians 2:8-10; 2 Corinthians 5:17)

11. The Seventh Day Sabbath

The seventh day of the week is the Sabbath sanctified by God at creation, maintained

in the law, declared by Jesus Christ as Himself being the Lord of it. It is not one day out

of seven nor has it ever been changed to any other day by the authority of the bible.

    (Genesis 2:2,3; Exodus 20:8-11; Mark 2:27,28)

12. Church Ordinances of Baptism by immersion and the Lords Supper

Baptism is practiced by immersion and dose not wash away sin, but is an outward sign

of the cleansing that already took place when receiving Christ.

    (Matthew 28: 18-20; Romans 6:1-14)

The Lord's Supper is a memorial that brings to remembrance of Jesus' death on Calvary.

This is to be observed until He returns. (Matthew 26:26-30; 1 Corinthians 11:23-28)
